Kranj Grand Prix - Filip Majcen memorial

Saturday and Sunday, 24 and 25 July, Kranj

Let’s go to the cycling festival in Kranj right after the Tour de France.

The Kranj Cycling Club is now in intense preparations for the traditional cycling festival, which will take place immediately after the French Tour and during the Olympic Games – on 24 and 25 July. Kranj has been one of the capitals of cycling for many years now and, as is traditional, for these two days the city will live almost exclusively for this sport. The already well-established competition programme will start with the race of the youngest boys and girls on Saturday at 2:30pm. Criterium races for youth categories and members will follow and will bring them points for national champion titles. At 6.30pm, the organizers invite preschool children and lower grade children to the start, and this will be a race where it is more important to participate than to win, as each participant will receive a medal. A race for people working in the cycling industry will follow, and then the night criterium race under the spotlights at 9pm, which is a real feast for all cycling enthusiasts, fans of sports and good company and it will also bring points to club members for national championship titles.

Almost every year, the Jelenov klanec slope decides on the winner of Sunday's race for the Kranj Grand Prix – Filip Majcen Memorial, which will be organized for the 53rd time this year and this makes it the oldest Slovenian cycling race under the auspices of the UCI. Cyclists will set off at 1.30 pm and cycle 13 laps in Kranj and its surroundings. There are 29 registered teams, a total of 174 cyclists, which is quite above average, so the organizers say that there will be an extremely strong international competition and an interesting and exciting race can be expected.

The Kranj cycling weekend will take place on 24 and 25 July

Our city is one of the capitals of cycling, which, in addition to the successful results of cyclists from Kranj, is also shown in the annual cycling festival, when the city is almost entirely dedicated to cycling. The Cycling Club Kranj will once again organize a criterion and a night criterion for all competition categories, a race for the youngest children and for coaches and accompanying staff. Sunday, 25 July, is reserved for the oldest international cycling race in Slovenia, the 53rd race for the Kranj Grand Prix – the Filip Majcen Memorial.
