Šmarjetna gora is the hill with a great view that is closest to Kranj and therefore ideal for a quick relaxation from the bustling life of the town. You can cycle there from the island on the river Sava or park somewhere in Stražišče. From the bridge over the island, turn right towards Besnica, go through the underpass, then turn sharp left along Delavska Street and you are already at the foot of Šmarjetna gora.

The road then climbs steeply and to the right there is a turn to Šmarjetna Gora, where you can also park. Continue up the hill following the asphalt road. From the road you can see Kranj and the Alps through the trees and between the two peaks the view opens up. Here you take the road on the right and you reach the church of St. Margaret and Hotel Bellevue. Here you can enjoy the wonderful view and see the Alps, the Karawanks, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and of course Kranj.
