Kranj, being the city of Pre\u0161eren<\/strong>, pays tribute to our greatest poet on several occasions. And so it is with the Cheerful December<\/strong>, as this is the meaning of his name.<\/p>

On 3 December<\/strong>, the day of Pre\u0161eren\u2019s birth, the verses of Dr. France Pre\u0161eren light up the streets and squares and are the central motif of the city\u2019s Christmas decorations: \u201cWe, who we think well in our hearts<\/em>\u201d, \u201cLet us all shake hands<\/em>\u201d and \u201cLet us raise a glass to ourselves<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>

The verses glow over the town until 8 February, the day of Pre\u0161eren\u2019s death, when Kranj once again pays tribute to him with the Pre\u0161eren Fair<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>

FESTIVE DECORATION<\/span><\/h3>

The decorations for the festive season are complemented by two Christmas trees<\/strong>, one on the Main Square<\/strong> and the other in front of the Pre\u0161eren Theatre<\/strong>. Another special feature of the city\u2019s Christmas decorations are the unique wooden sculptures<\/strong> by Kranj florist Matja\u017e Begu\u0161<\/strong>, who is also the author of the wooden nativity scene<\/strong> in the Kokra River canyon<\/strong>. The Fairytale Grove<\/strong> on the Main Square was set up for children<\/strong>.<\/p>

Kranj is considered to be the city of Pre\u0161eren<\/strong>, which can be seen in the holiday decoration of the city, when the squares and streets are lit up with the verses by Dr. France Pre\u0161eren \u2013 \u201cWe who think well in our hearts<\/em>\u201d, \u201cLet us all shake hands<\/em>\u201d and \u201cLet us raise the glass to ourselves<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>

FESTIVE DECORATION<\/span><\/h3>

Among other things there, you will be able to see Santa\u2019s chair<\/strong>, in which anyone can sit and take a memorable festive photo, and a wooden nativity<\/strong> scene by master craftsman Miro Rismond<\/strong>.<\/p>

FESTIVE PROGRAMME<\/span><\/h3>

The festive programme<\/strong> will start on 3 December<\/strong> with the switching-on of the lights<\/strong>, a concert by the Moon Time Quartet<\/strong> and a visit from the Ice Queen<\/strong>. Children will also enjoy a visit from St Nicholas<\/strong> and Grandfather Frost<\/strong>. This year\u2019s concert programme will feature bands and performers from Kranj<\/strong>, as well as more established local and international musicians such as HELP! A Beatles Tribute<\/strong>, Petar Gra\u0161o<\/strong> and Miran Rudan InDesign<\/strong>.<\/p>

At the Reception of Kranj Athletes<\/strong> we will celebrate the successes of Kranj clubs and individual athletes. The event will be closed with a performance by the versatile Ljubljana-based artist Mark Jacob Cavazza<\/strong> aka Vazz<\/strong>, one of the most prominent young hip hop artists in Slovenia.<\/p>

This year as well, the Good Thoughts in Our Hearts charity campaign<\/strong> will take place during the Cheerful December, where we will help selected families and individuals in need.<\/p>
