A few days ago, the Austrian culinary magazine Falstaff published a list of the best restaurants in Slovenia and Croatia. Three restaurants from Kranj are listed among the best Slovenian restaurants: Gostilna Kri\u0161tof<\/a>, Gostilna pr’ Mati\u010dku<\/a> and Brioni restaurant and caf\u00e9<\/a>.<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

While Kri\u0161tof<\/strong> and Mati\u010dek<\/strong> have been ranked among the best by this Austrian<\/strong> magazine<\/strong> in the past, Brioni<\/strong> is a newcomer this year<\/span>.<\/p>\r\n

Among the three restaurants in Kranj, Falstaff awarded<\/strong> the highest score of 91 points to Gostilna Kri\u0161tof<\/a><\/strong> (Predoslje 22, Kranj – Google Maps<\/a>), being more than just a \u201cgostilna\u201d according to the reviewers. The brothers Kri\u0161tof and Toma\u017e Bolka, they wrote, have \u201ccarefully infused the restaurant with the spirit of the present times\u201d, while chef Uro\u0161 Gorjanc takes care of his fine craftsmanship of regional cuisine, bringing in modern elements. The Falstaff magazine description goes on to mention the \u201cdelightful wines\u201d and freshly squeezed juices. The Kri\u0161tof restaurant has received three forks<\/strong> on the Falstaff ranking.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Two forks<\/strong> were again awarded to Gostilna pr\u2019 Mati\u010dku<\/strong><\/a> (41 Jezerska cesta, Kranj – Google Maps<\/a>). The restaurant, run by chef Matja\u017e Erzar \u2013 Mati\u010dek and his partner Simona Virant, scored 86 points, one more than the previous year. Austrian reviewers mention their game dishes and also that, despite the proximity to the city, \u201cone feels like being in a restaurant in the countryside\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This year\u2019s novelty on the Austrian list is another popular place for foodies in Kranj, Brioni<\/strong><\/a> restaurant (Koro\u0161ka cesta 10, Kranj – Google Maps<\/a>) with two forks<\/strong>. It was awarded 85 points and a description that mentions good coffee as well as desserts and a restaurant run by chef Toma\u017e Polenec. His cuisine was described by the Austrian magazine as modern, underlined with local flavours and a French flair.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

One more thing: in Slovenia<\/strong><\/a>, the highest number<\/strong> of points, 96, was awarded to Hi\u0161a Franko<\/strong> and its chef Ana Ro\u0161 (who has already kindly asked the Austrian team to remove the name of the restaurant and her name from the list because it was not the current menu that was described), followed by Pri Lojzetu (Dvorec Zemono), Gri\u010d (\u0160entjo\u0161t nad Horjulom) and Hi\u0161a Denk (Zgornja Kungota) with 95 points.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

In Croatia, the Falstaff reviewers highlighted the culinary experience at the three highest-rated restaurants, awarding 95 points to Pelegrini in \u0160ibenik, Lemongarden in Sutivan on the island of Bra\u010d and Agli Amici in Rovinj<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
