The Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj<\/a> have been awarded the Green Key<\/a> eco label for their sustainability. This is confirmation of our efforts to develop responsible tourism and a sustainable attitude towards the environment.<\/h3>

The Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj, managed by the Kranj Tourism and Culture Board<\/strong>, have undergone a number of changes in the last two years. These concern both the technical layout and appearance of the tunnels, as well as changes in their content.<\/p>

As the tunnels are an important technical heritage of Kranj and have a climate similar to natural caves, care has been taken throughout the renovation process to limit the impact on this landmark.<\/p>

In cooperation with the Municipality of Kranj<\/strong>, we decided to test our sustainability efforts and applied for Green Key certification<\/strong> for the Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj. This is an international label for ecological tourism, so it recognises efforts to operate in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. The programme promotes responsible management of natural resources, reducing energy and water consumption and limiting environmental impact.<\/p>

The Green Key<\/strong><\/a> is an international ecological certificate<\/strong> that recognises efforts towards environmental responsibility<\/strong> and sustainable operation<\/strong> within the tourism industry.<\/p><\/blockquote>

With the renovation<\/strong> of the Tunnels, this was achieved in several aspects. The new toilet facilities contribute to a better user experience for our visitors. At the same time, we have reduced water consumption by using sensors on the taps. For our new tourism product, the self-guided tour of the Tunnels with automated entry, we have also modernized the electrical wiring in the Tunnels, with integrated sensors to help reduce electricity consumption.<\/p>

We do not have any single-use plastics at the events<\/strong><\/a> we organise in the Tunnels. Visitors are encouraged to travel in a sustainable way to get to Kranj and visit the Tunnels.<\/p>

Last but not least, the Tunnels are also home to the SOS Proteus Information Centre<\/strong><\/a>, whose contents encourage reflection on a sustainable attitude towards the natural world, especially with regard to drinking-quality groundwater.<\/p>

The Green Key<\/strong> confirms our efforts to develop responsible tourism<\/strong> and environmental sustainability<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>

We are very pleased to announce that the Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj<\/strong><\/a>, with the above-mentioned contents and technical specifications, has become a recipient of the Green Key<\/strong><\/a> environmental label for sustainable tourism. This confirms our commitment to develop responsible tourism and sustainable attitude towards the environment.<\/p>

We are proud to be part of the drive towards a sustainable future<\/strong><\/a> and remain committed to continuously improving our behaviour towards the environment. Receiving this label also gives Kranj greater visibility as a destination that cares for nature and the environment and is committed to sustainable development.<\/p>
