Janez Puhar<\/strong> was born on 26 August 1814<\/strong>, into a stonemason family in Kranj<\/strong>. He had a brother, Matija, and three sisters, Franca, Johana, and Terezija. He excelled in foreign languages, mathematics and natural sciences and he also enjoyed drawing. His physics and chemistry teacher, Janez Kersnik, inspired him to conduct various chemical experiments<\/strong>. Although he wanted to devote himself to art, he decided to become a priest at his mother\u2019s request. In 1864, terminally ill with tuberculosis, he returned to his native Kranj and died at his home on 7 August.<\/p>

Puhar\u2019s invention in photography<\/span>:<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The first printed booklet on daguerreotype<\/strong> was published in 1839<\/strong>, and Puhar mastered this technique a year later. Daguerreotype is a unique light image on a silver-plated metal base. However, as this was a very demanding, time-consuming, and expensive technique, Puhar began to develop his own technique, called light painting<\/strong>. This technique was cheaper and easier, using glass plates.<\/p>

Although Puhar discovered photography on glass<\/strong> earlier, he was overtaken by the Frenchman Abel Niepce<\/strong> in 1847 in terms of recognition in academic circles. Janez Puhar only managed to gain recognition in 1851<\/strong> and 1852<\/strong>, and therefore remained in Niepce\u2019s shadow.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
