{"id":894900,"date":"2025-01-14T13:48:23","date_gmt":"2025-01-14T11:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visitkranj.com\/?page_id=894900"},"modified":"2026-01-13T09:39:30","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T08:39:30","slug":"green-key","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.visitkranj.com\/en\/green-destination\/green-key\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Key"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GREEN KEY \u2013 Tunnels under the old town of Kranj | Our commitment to sustainability<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to make an even greater contribution to raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection, the <strong>Tourism and Culture Board Kranj<\/strong>, in cooperation with the <strong>Municipality of Kranj<\/strong>, decided to submit an application for the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenkey.global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>GREEN KEY<\/strong><\/a>\u201d environmental label to be awarded to the tourist attraction <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitkranj.com\/en\/sights\/tunnels-under-the-old-town-of-kranj\/\"><strong>Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>It is an international environmental label that recognises efforts of tourism establishments towards sustainability and environmental friendliness. The programme is designed to promote responsible management of natural resources, lower energy and water consumption and minimising environmental impact. Among other things, the award of the label gives visitors greater visibility of companies that care about nature and the environment.<\/p>\r\n<p>In December <strong>2024<\/strong>, the <strong>Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj<\/strong> received the <strong>Green Key environmental label<\/strong> for their sustainability as a tourist attraction, and it was <strong>awarded<\/strong> to them once more at the end of <strong>2025<\/strong>. We are proud to be part of the drive for a sustainable future and committed to continuously improving our behaviour for the sake of the environment. The certificate can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitkranj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Green-Key-Certificate_2025_V4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Our tourism organisation recognises the importance of sustainability and has implemented a number of measures to reduce a negative impact on the environment. Some of the key activities include:<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #c61647;\">\u2192<\/span> Staff engagement<\/strong>: We regularly raise awareness of the importance of sustainable management, encouraging employees to make environmentally friendly choices in their daily work.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #c61647;\">\u2192<\/span> Visitor information<\/strong>: Visitors are encouraged to use sustainable means of transport when attending our events and tours. At events such as the Wine Route and Halloween we have a sustainable approach. Visitors are encouraged to arrive in a sustainable way (by bicycle, on foot, by public transport or by carpooling). We avoid the use of single-use plastics at events at other locations, as well as at events in the Tunnels under the Old Town of Kranj.
