Layer House

In the 18th and 19th century, the painter Leopold Layer lived here and his paintings adorned almost every town house in Kranj. He is also the author of the most popular Slovenian icon, the miraculous image of Mary Help of Christians, which he painted for the chapel in Brezje. Today the Layer House is again a house of artists and a meeting place for cultural and social events. It is located in the old town of Kranj, close to the Khislstein castle, and in its courtyard stands the Škrlovec Tower.

The layer house with its surroundings is steadily turning into a dynamic cultural quarter. Art, music, creativity, education, a pleasant café and apartments for guests bring life to the house every day of the year.
