Prešeren Grove

This was the town cemetery since 1798 until a few years before the World War II. Now it is a memorial park with gravestones of the poets Dr. France Prešeren and Simon Jenko, the tomb of the Majdič family with the marble relief “Ascension” and one of the earliest monuments to the victims of fascist violence in Europe from 1931, dedicated to the antifascists who died in Bazovica in 1930 and to Vladimir Gortan who was shot in Pula in 1929.

Especially on hot summer days, this park is a nice place for a walk and the trees provide a pleasant shade.
