Sustainability
Kranj is the European Destination of Excellence 2023 and was awarded the platinum label within the Green Tourism Scheme of Slovenia. This proves that we strive to build our tourism products in a sustainable way – and that includes taking care of our cultural heritage. Jenko’s Residence is a tribute to Simon Jenko, one of Slovenia’s most influential poets, who lived in the house between 1864 and 1866, and we wish that the guests who stay there would feel inspired. Here, as well, the sustainability aspect is at the forefront: most of the furnishings in the residence are made from sustainable materials, and many of the furnishings are “second-hand”, restored by the Vincenc Draksler Foundation. Guests are encouraged to separate waste, to use electricity and water efficiently, to drink tap water and, above all, to enjoy anything local – from attractions to cuisine and events.
