Heads or Tails

Follow your destiny through Prešeren’s Kranj. This is the story of a city that stands high on a rock. Two rivers flow under this alpine rock that has an urban pulse. The many dualities here can stir one’s imagination and you start to fantasize about fate. The tour includes 14 places, 14 attractions of Kranj that are related to the greatest Slovenian poet.

The course of the tour is each time decided by the coin: “If a number is thrown, we go along the left street, and if we throw a head, then we take street on the right”, and so we embark on a fateful tour that plays with dualities and contradictions of the giant of Slovenian poetry and the city of Kranj.

On the Heads or Tails tour you can expect a great camera obscura experience, when the world is literally turned upside down, then you can a goose feather to write a letter and fall madly in love with the fateful and romantic divisions so typical of Kranj.

Follow your fate to the cheerful city of Kranj. For such is the story of this town built on a rock. It’s an Alpine rock with lots of urban life, embraced by two rivers. Come on the “Heads or Tails” tour through Kranj to look fate in the eye!

The poet was the town’s rebel in a beret. The man on the Slovenian coin. A champion of poetry and legal battles. Follow him through the houses of Kranj, peek behind the scenes of the city, determine your fate by flipping a coin and get to know Kranj in doing so.

On the Heads or Tails experience, we’ll write a letter to our longings and come to terms with the curiosity within us. What will it be, heads or tails?

→ Duration: 3 hours

Registration and reservation required: Advance registration is required at info@visitkranj.si, by phone at +386 (0)4 238 04 50, or via the online form at least one day before the desired date of the guided tour. The admission fee (if booking via email or phone) is then paid at the Kranjska hiša tourist information (Glavni trg 2, 4000 Kranj), which is also the meeting point before the tour.

The price includes:

– a walk from Kranj that will head to the upside-down tails of the Kokra River Canyon,
– 1 photo on glass for the entire group of participants (additional photos – by arrangement, for a certain fee),
– unique visits to Prešeren’s House, the Prešeren Theater, the Prešerniana Collection, and the Prešeren Grove,
– writing with a quill pen,
– coffee or tea, Williams pear schnapps and lemonade, a surprise dessert, some served on a terrace that is unusual like crazy and some on a crazy popular one.

Number of participants: The minimum number of participants is 2, and the maximum is 10.

It is recommended to:
– Bring a bottle of water and sun protection (hat, sunscreen).
– Have appropriate/comfortable footwear for walking around town and in nature.
