In the surroundings of Tržič there is an abundance of hiking trails and opportunities for mountaineers, mountain bikers and other extreme athletes such as hang gliders, parachutists, skiers, fishermen, hunters, but also historians, geologists, poets and lovers of all things beautiful will have their breath taken away here.
Starting from Glavni trg in Kranj, cycle through Maistrov trg and past the Prešeren Grove and descend into the canyon of the Kokra River winding through the old town of Kranj. Continue past the Brdo park and at the foot of the Storžič mountain to Tržič. The town is known for many crafts that have flourished here since Roman times. Continue on the “balcony of the Gorenjska region”, the route named like this because of its unique views. Soon you will arrive in Begunje, home of the world-famous accordion music by the Avsenik brothers. From here, turn east to Brezje with its Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, a famous pilgrimage destination. Then it is not far back to Kranj and despite all the uphill and downhill parts of this route, it is one of the most beautiful cycling experiences.
