Michelin on the outskirts of Kranj once again: two awards for Gostilna Krištof

For the third year in a row, the Krištof restaurant in Predoslje has been awarded a green star and a recommendation at this year’s Michelin Slovenia Restaurant Awards.

A mention in the most famous gastronomic guide means a lot to us,” says chef Uroš Gorjanc of Gostilna Krištof. The restaurant from Predoslje received a green clover and a recommendation at this year’s Michelin Slovenia Restaurant Awards, for the third year in a row.

Chef Gorjanc, who is originally from the southern outskirts of Kranj, added: “The green star, which stands for a sustainable culinary vision, shines just as bright in my opinion as a normal Michelin star.” For, he adds, “just being mentioned in the world’s most famous culinary guide is a great accolade for Gostilna Krištof. For us, it means more guests, more work and more green culinary stories.

A mention in the Michelin Guide is also recognition for Gorenjska farmers, Chef Gorjanc points out: “Through hard work, they allow us to enjoy the richness of everything that we can present on the plate. I am delighted to be able to use my knowledge to bring all these excellent local products together into one whole.

In addition to the Green Star, Krištof Restaurant has also received a Michelin recommendation.

By the way: this award also went to Restaurant 1906, run by chef Aleš Fende from Kranj, based in Bled’s Hotel Triglav.

Let’s conclude with another thing: Kranj is this year’s candidate for the European Destination of Excellence title, which “addresses smaller tourism destinations that can showcase the best achievements in sustainable tourism and green transition practices by providing interesting and authentic experiences and the opportunity to discover what local people have to offer”.

Forward-looking gastronomy is certainly part of this, whether in the form of a long table or the superb stories written by many of Kranj’s chefs.
