The Slovenia Green Gourmet Route starts in Ljubljana and heads to Gorenjska, Škofja Loka, Kranj and Radovljica. From there, it continues to Bled and Bohinj, where you can take a train to the Soča Valley. Then it heads to the Vipava Valley, the Karst region, Postojna and returns to Ljubljana. Towards the East, you can take the route through Sevnica, Krško, all the way to Ptuj and Maribor.
Apart from the beautiful nature, the food, the wine and the green destinations, the most important aspect of the route are the people that you meet there.
From Škofja Loka to Kranj, one can take two routes – an easier one or a harder one with more challenging climbs. You will slowly approach the highest Slovenian mountains, as Kranj is considered the capital of the Slovenian Alps. You are welcome to stop in Kranj, see its rich history or take part in one of the many tours of the city or the countryside. Don’t forget to visit the Krištof, the Pr’ Končovc holiday farm, the Actum Hotel and the Brdo Estate. All of them have been awarded with various labels and certificates.
