Cheerful December in the city
Kranj, the city of Prešeren, pays tribute to our greatest poet on several occasions. And so it is with the Cheerful December. It is one of the most beautifully decorated towns, sparkling with festive lights from 3 December, when we celebrate the birthday of the poet France Prešeren, until 8 February, when we once again pay tribute to the poet on the day of his death with the Prešeren Fair.
It is these verses by Prešeren that twinkle over the city: “We who think good in our hearts”, “Let everyone join hands”, “Let us raise our glasses to ourselves” and “Long live all nations”, as they give festive Kranj a special Advent atmosphere.
The Cheerful December programme will be taking place from 3 to 31 December 2025. Don’t miss the concerts by ABBA CZ and Flirrt, Nina Pušlar and many others, the Christmas market, the St. Nicholas parade with Romana Krajnčan and the parade of Grandfather Frost with Pippi Longstocking.
City flair
