Fine Cuisine in and around Kranj (8 – 24 May 2026)
In February 2025, Anže Skvarč opened his own restaurant in the old part of Kranj. In doing so, he decided to serve dishes here that would delight both locals and tourists. In its very first year of operation, the restaurant received two hearts in the Vivi rating.
Chef Skvarč prepares lunch menus every day and also cooks à la carte dishes that focus on traditional and local flavours, seasoned with just the right touch of originality and boldness. Here you’ll find the Carniolan sausage, Kranj štruklji, a selection of Slovenian cheeses, trout from local fish farms, and other flavours of the Gorenjska region.

Ivan’s Menu
→ Amuse-bouche: whipped butter with honey and fleur de sel
→ Cold appetizer: chicken pâté and rose-hip jam
→ Warm appetizer: asparagus soup
→ Main course: spider steak in pepper sauce with creamy mashed potatoes
→ Dessert: buckwheat panna cotta with honey

Vegan Menu
→ Amuse-bouche: white bean and horseradish spread
→ Cold appetizer: carrot vinaigrette, pumpkin flower stuffed with vegan ricotta
→ Warm appetizer: asparagus soup
→ Main course: Vienna-style breaded and fried eggplant, whipped vegan feta, vegan lemon mayonnaise, artichoke, and hummus
→ Dessert: vegan buckwheat panna cotta with barley malt
→ Menu price: 30 euros
→ Additional option (for an extra charge) is a wine pairing, specifically for the classic menu: extra brut sparkling wine (Frelih Winery), Bastardo (Fedora), Istrian Malvasia, and red wine (both Atimo), Yellow Muscat (Rodica). For the vegetarian menu, we recommend these wines: extra brut sparkling wine (Frelih Winery), light orange (Gordia), Istrian Malvasia (Atimo), Pinot Gris (Herga), and Yellow Muscat (Rodica). Price of wine pairing: 20 euros.
→ Local and Slovenian ingredients: butter from the Pustotnik Farm (Gorenja vas), honey by the beekeeper Mitja Smrdel in Kranj, house-made rose-hip jam, asparagus from the Dolinar Farm (Dorfarje), potatoes from the Sloga Agricultural Cooperative (Kranj), vegetables from the Majcan Farm (Renkovci), and plant-based delicacies from the Krajček Store (Kranj)
